Love Life? Week 3

If someone asks you if you have a plan to protect your marriage, what would you say? The truth is that most of us do not have one. Many of us believe it is enough just to monitor our spouse to make sure he/she is good. Today we will understand that our ability to love for life has as much to do with the condition of our heart as it does the behavior of our spouse.

Love Life? Week 2

Last week we learned that falling in love simply requires a pulse, but staying in love for life requires a plan. We were challenged to take our cue from Jesus and not from culture, parents or even our friends. The call of lasting love is actively loving your spouse. The Apostle Paul defined it as a mutual submission between husbands and wives. Today we will expose the deep expression of how Jesus loves us in order for us to respond to our relationships properly.

We all know what’s required to fall in love, a pulse. Falling in love is easy, but staying there, that’s something else entirely. With more than 1,500 matchmaking organizations in the United States, finding someone is easier than ever, but staying together seems to get more difficult every day. So is it possible for two people to fall in love and actually stay in love for a lifetime? Track with us this week as we discover what is the foundation to all lasting relationships.

A Fierce Dependence

Years ago, a sweet, elderly lady made this bold statement to me, “I have never had a prayer not answered!” As I added up the negatives in her statement, I realized she was saying that all of her prayers were answered. What made her so confident? She said this with such a sense of purpose. My prayers often felt more like bubbles floating into the air than a fierce dependence on God. I wanted to pray with the confidence and purpose that her statement revealed. Well, so does God. Come learn the truth that will infuse your prayers with a confidence and purpose that develops a fierce, pro-faith, pro-active dependence on God.

Fear...less

Two Thousand-Nine has taken everyone for a wild ride. The economy has come to a halt, jobs are evaporating, there are wars and rumors of wars, nuclear powers are being added to the list, global warming may or may not be a factor, cancer and even the flu are threats. Add to these all the “what ifs” of a “normal” life and anxiety could grip the strongest of us. Fear is seldom our friend. In the face of everything, Jesus calmly tells us to “Fear not!” while we watch him sleep in the bow of a storm tossed boat. How did he do that? Let’s investigate how to plug the leaks in our fear tossed hearts and live fearlessly
