We feel that the following values are a vital part of the spiritual DNA of Oak:
Christ-Centered: our Focus
The church is the body of Christ with Christ as its head. Without Christ we can do nothing but with Him we can do all things. (Col 1:18; John 14:6, 15:5)
Prayer: our Power
Jesus simply stated, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be open to you." Prayer changes things, including ourselves. OCC will be a church that humbly prays. (Matt 7:7)
Community: our Plan
The church is called the flock, the body, the building, God's temple and Christ's bride. Each one of these reveals relationship, belonging and interdependence. OCC will nurture community and resist influences that disrupt or destroy community. (Eph 4:16)
Thankfulness: our Attitude
Followers of Christ are to give thanks in all things. Gratitude for the manifold grace we have received is to color our entire life. OCC will practice thankfulness as a church and as individuals. (1 Thess 5:16-18; 2 Cor 4:14-15)
Missional: our Purpose
The church has been created and equipped to build itself up in love. It has also been shaped to perform good deeds, the greatest of which is testifying to the power of the gospel in our lives so others would come to faith in Christ. (Matt 28:18-20)
Transformation: our End
As a lump of clay is transformed into a useful vessel by the hands of a potter, so the life of the Christian is transformed by the hands of Christ. Our minds and hearts are transformed into the likeness of Christ bringing humility, other-centeredness, forgiveness, love, light and life to us through Christ. (Rom 12:2)
Creativity: our intention
To reflect a creative God, OCC will strive to have creativity be part of its DNA. We will do things in vibrant, fresh and stimulating ways within the framework of God's truth. (Gen 1:31; Col 3:23-24)
Celebration: our choice
"Rejoice and again I say rejoice! Rejoice always!" is the ringing call from God to we who believe. Our relationship with God our Father through Jesus Christ has flooded our every element of our life with great joy. At OCC we hope to live life through the glasses of that celebration even in times of trial. (Phil 4:4)
